1Ummah Women Empowerment Waqf

Waqf is a voluntary, permanent and irrevocable dedication of a portion of one's wealth using any income or benefit that may be generated from the property for the benefit of others for the sake of Allah.

The 1Ummah Women Empowerment Waqf formally launched in December 2020. It derives its functions from the 1Ummah Empowerment Project Byelaw. This Waqf’s objective is to empower hardworking women from the lowest strata of society. Its seed capital is preserved in various investments while proceeds from these investments are distributed to beneficiaries semi-annually. The initial phase of this Waqf disbursed interest-free loans to needy women as working capital for various trades. We have launched six phases of this model.  Presently, we have refocused deployment of the Waqf funds to a pilot collaboration with well-established vocational training centres & registered cooperatives to train beneficiaries in various trades and provide a grant of working tools or materials to outstanding trainees. We believe this will be more helpful to this stratum of women in the present economic conditions. We have empowered over 200 women so far. We have a Unit head coordinating the project.
