1Ummah initiated the Scholarship Initiative for the Less Privileged (SILP) in 2015, with the aim of supporting and building a platform to inspire hope and greatness in the life of the orphaned & vulnerable children affected by the insurgency in the Northeast region of Nigeria, as well as children in the 1Ummah headquarters, the FCT. We have enrolled over 400 students in 23 schools in Maiduguri, Yola, FCT & Nasarawa State. The SILP package includes payment of school fees, books, examination fees, uniform and other learning materials from primary to secondary school for every beneficiary as well as periodic food supplies, mentorship, medical support and trauma counselling.
We currently have 300 beneficiaries in 18 schools in Maiduguri, Yola and the FCT. Over 120 students have graduated secondary schools. We aim to reach 10,000 beneficiaries and extend support to higher education. We have two Units implementing the project
